Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) has signed a major agreement with IHG Hotels & Resorts to develop five new hotel properties across important Indian cities. The partnership is expected to strengthen hospitality infrastructure around airports and support the rapid growth of India’s aviation and tourism sectors.

The agreement also marks the official entry of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants into the Indian market. Kimpton is globally known for its boutique luxury hotels, stylish design, and chef-driven dining experiences.

According to AAHL, the five hotels will be developed in Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). These projects are part of the company’s broader plan to create airport-centered urban developments that combine travel, hospitality, retail, and commercial infrastructure.

Currently, AAHL operates several major airports in India, including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Mangalore, and Thiruvananthapuram airports. The company is now focusing on transforming these airport areas into integrated “airport cities” designed to improve passenger experiences and support economic growth.

Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises Limited, said the group’s vision is to create world-class destinations that connect aviation, hospitality, and urban infrastructure.

He explained that the company is building this platform in partnership with leading international hotel brands that can bring global standards, operational excellence, and strong industry experience. According to him, the collaboration with IHG is an important step in improving India’s hospitality infrastructure in line with the country’s growing travel demand.

The planned hotel portfolio will include a luxury Kimpton hotel in Jaipur along with Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties in mixed-use developments connected to Adani Airport cities. These developments are expected to serve business travelers, tourists, and transit passengers.

The partnership comes at a time when India’s aviation and tourism industries are witnessing strong growth. Increasing passenger traffic, rising domestic tourism, and expanding business travel are driving demand for better hotels and modern hospitality facilities near airports.

Sudeep Jain, Managing Director for South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said India continues to offer major opportunities for the hospitality sector, especially in gateway cities and airport-linked developments.

He added that the partnership will help IHG strengthen its presence in several fast-growing markets across the country. The company plans to offer a mix of luxury, premium, and essential hotel brands to meet the needs of different travelers.

IHG currently operates 52 hotels across six brands in India. The company also has an additional pipeline of 98 hotels expected to open over the next three to five years, showing its strong long-term commitment to the Indian hospitality market.

AAHL said its airport city developments will cover around 663 acres across major cities. These projects aim to create mixed-use destinations where airports are connected with hotels, shopping centers, offices, entertainment zones, and social infrastructure.

Industry experts believe airport-led developments are becoming increasingly important as cities grow and air travel expands. Modern airport cities can attract investment, create jobs, improve tourism, and support regional economic development.

The new partnership between AAHL and IHG is expected to play an important role in shaping the future of India’s airport hospitality sector while enhancing travel experiences for both domestic and international visitors.
