UAE vertiport network to scale with Aeroberm

Foster Aviation, the Dubai-based Advanced Air Mobility and aviation solutions provider, and Aeroberm™ (a Skyportz company), developer of the patented modular vertipad system, today announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the rollout of vertiport infrastructure across the United Arab Emirates.

Under the partnership, Foster Aviation will act as an Aeroberm partner in the UAE, working directly with local air safety regulators and the property industry to establish a multitude of vertiport sites throughout the country. The collaboration pairs Foster Aviation’s established regulatory relationships, aircraft sales network, and vertiport design and construction capability across the UAE and wider region with Aeroberm’s patented vertipad safety technology.

Aeroberm addresses the three unresolved issues most commonly cited as blocking vertiport certification globally: downwash and outwash wind forces, lithium-ion battery fire risk, and noise amenity.

Its patented fractal panel deck dissipates wind energy around 90% faster than conventional tarmac in CFD research conducted with Swinburne University, with early indications that the same design element may also reduce community noise. An optional integrated dunk tank can fully submerge the aircraft battery, widely regarded as the most effective method of preventing thermal runaway reignition.

As part of the partnership, Foster Aviation will display a prototype of Aeroberm’s revolutionary fractal panel at VertiExpo Dubai, held December 14 to 16, 2026 at Festival Arena, Festival City. Advance orders will be taken at the event for delivery throughout 2027.

Mohamed Saleem, Managing Director, Foster Aviation, said, “The UAE is uniquely positioned to lead the global transition toward Advanced Air Mobility, and the development of safe, scalable and commercially viable infrastructure will be fundamental to that ambition. Aeroberm’s patented vertipad technology offers an innovative approach to some of the key challenges facing eVTOL infrastructure. Through this partnership, Foster Aviation is committed to bringing this technology to the UAE and working with regulators, developers, investors and industry leaders to establish the foundations for a scalable vertiport network across the country and, ultimately, the wider region.”

Clem Newton-Brown OAM, Founder and CEO, Aeroberm, said, “The UAE has the vision, the regulatory leadership and the appetite for innovation to be among the first places in the world where flying taxis become part of everyday life. That makes it the ideal launch market for Aeroberm. In Foster Aviation we have found a partner with the regulatory relationships, regional reach and hands-on vertiport design and construction expertise to turn that ambition into real sites on the ground. Together we can show the property industry that a vertiport can be safely hosted on a rooftop, a car park or a waterfront development, and help build the dense network of destinations that Advanced Air Mobility needs to succeed.”

The partnership positions the UAE among the first markets globally to deploy Aeroberm’s safety infrastructure at scale, supporting the country’s Advanced Air Mobility ambitions as eVTOL operators move toward commercial certification.

How the fractal panel works

Aeroberm’s fractal geometry was engineered to solve the downwash and outwash safety problem that limits how close a vertiport can be built to people and property. The design uses self-similar, logarithmically-spaced vanes in a wavy, non-sinusoidal pattern to disrupt and redirect rotor outwash at the ground plane (a Magnus-effect-based redirection mechanism), rather than allowing air to strike a flat, solid surface and reflect toward the aircraft and bystanders. CFD modelling conducted by Swinburne University of Technology (Professor Justin Leontini and Andrew Che) found the fractal panel achieves roughly 90% faster viscous energy dissipation than flat tarmac.

This same physical mechanism — breaking up airflow at the surface rather than letting it strike and reflect off a solid ground plane — also works acoustically. The aerodynamic dissipation properties that solve the outwash safety problem are now being tested for their acoustic dissipation properties as well.
