SpiceJet News: Delhi-Dubai Flights Delayed Up to 30 Hours, Passengers Protest

Several passengers at Delhi Airport protested after three SpiceJet flights to Dubai faced long delays and schedule changes. Two of the flights were delayed by nearly 30 hours and 19 hours, while a third flight was rescheduled for later in the day.
The delays caused significant inconvenience to passengers, with some travellers forced to spend the night waiting at the airport.
SpiceJet flight SG-5111 was scheduled to depart from Delhi for Dubai at 7:45 am on Monday. The flight was carrying 130 passengers.
However, the flight did not depart as planned and finally took off at around 2 pm on Tuesday, resulting in a delay of nearly 30 hours.
The long wait caused frustration among passengers, many of whom had to remain at Delhi airport for an extended period.
Another SpiceJet service, SG-5105, was scheduled to leave Delhi Airport for Dubai at 6:45 pm on Monday. The flight had 160 passengers on board.
It eventually departed on Tuesday afternoon after a delay of nearly 19 hours.
The back-to-back delays affected a large number of passengers and created confusion over their travel plans.
A video shared widely on social media showed several passengers sitting in protest at Terminal 3 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The overnight wait and extended delays reportedly led passengers to express their frustration at the airport.
Long flight delays can affect passengers who have connecting flights, hotel bookings, work commitments and other scheduled plans. The disruption to the Dubai-bound services therefore caused considerable inconvenience.
A third SpiceJet flight, SG-9511, was scheduled to depart from Delhi for Dubai at 8:30 am on Tuesday. However, the flight was also rescheduled for later in the evening.
This added to the concerns of passengers travelling on the Delhi-Dubai route.
A SpiceJet spokesperson said that flights SG-5111, SG-5105 and SG-9511 were delayed or rescheduled due to operational reasons following the grounding of an aircraft.
The airline also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers.
The grounding of an aircraft can affect airline schedules when there are fewer available aircraft to operate planned services. This can lead to changes in departure times and delays across other flights.
The delays meant that passengers had to wait for long periods before their flights could operate. The protest at Terminal 3 highlighted the frustration among travellers affected by the disruption.
