Passenger Terminal Expo Asia 2026 Opens, Driving Aviation Investment, Technology and Security
Aviation leaders from Asia, the Middle East, Central Asia, Australasia and North America are in Singapore to discuss how different markets are responding to sector challenges, including labour shortages, automation, geopolitical disruption, cybersecurity, sustainability and changing passenger expectations.
These operational questions are becoming more urgent as Asia and the Middle East undertake an estimated US$240 billion in airport investment over the next decade. The scale of expansion increases the need for airports to learn from different markets, and design infrastructure that can adapt to changing technology and passenger demand.
Mr Murali Pillai, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Transport & Ministry of Law, Singapore, attended as Guest-of-Honour and delivered the opening address.
The event brings together more than 3,500 aviation professionals, 200 speakers and 125 exhibitors to examine how airports across Asia and the Middle East are investing in capacity, technology, resilience and passenger experience.
Speaking at Passenger Terminal Expo Asia (PTE Asia) on 23–24 September 2026, executives responsible for major global hubs, national airport networks and new aviation developments will share approaches shaped by markedly different operating environments.
While some airports are constructing new terminals and hubs, others must increase capacity and introduce new technology while remaining fully operational. The event considers what these markets can learn from one another—and whether solutions that succeed in one airport can be replicated elsewhere.
Dominic Pinfold, Event Director, Passenger Terminal Expo Asia, said: “Airports face many of the same pressures, but they are not starting from the same place. A solution designed for an established international hub may not work for a new airport or a geographically dispersed national network.
“Bringing leaders from different regions together allows the industry to compare practical experience, understand what can be transferred between markets and identify where solutions must be adapted to local operating realities.”
Different markets, different challenges
Asia: Across Asia, airports must accommodate rapid growth while transforming existing operations. Speakers from Changi Airport Group and Airports of Thailand will address capacity, connectivity and passenger expectations. InJourney leaders will examine Indonesia’s airport-network transformation, while Narita International Airport’s presenter will explain why successful automation depends on employee involvement.
ANZ: In Australasia, Auckland Airport will explore how an operating airport can deliver major transformation while maintaining safe, reliable passenger services.
Canada/US: From North America, the CEOs of San Francisco and Edmonton international airports will consider how mature airports can modernise infrastructure, finance long-term development and prepare for the airport of 2050.
Middle East/Central Asia: The Middle East and Central Asia offer lessons from major new hubs and national aviation programmes. Speakers from Jeddah Airports, King Salman International Airport and Uzbekistan will address capital development, operational resilience, geopolitical uncertainty and infrastructure modernisation.
Together, these perspectives will demonstrate which approaches can transfer between markets—and which must be adapted to different operating, economic and cultural realities. The programme will span airport development, operations, security, technology, sustainability, finance and passenger experience.
