Noida International Airport News

The Noida International Airport has announced a change in its top leadership.

The airport has appointed its Chief Financial Officer Nitu Samra as the interim Chief Executive Officer. She will take charge immediately and will continue in this role until a permanent CEO is selected.

This decision was taken after instructions from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), which says that the CEO of any airport in India must be an Indian citizen.

The previous CEO, Christoph Schnellmann, a Swiss national who has been leading the airport since August 2020, will now join the airport’s Board of Directors as Executive Vice Chairman.

According to the airport statement, Nitu Samra has been working as Chief Financial Officer since October 2021 and will now handle additional responsibilities as interim CEO.

The airport was recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month.

Officials said the leadership change is part of regulatory compliance and will not affect the ongoing construction and operational plans of the airport. The management team is continuing work on key infrastructure, passenger terminals, and safety systems to ensure smooth future operations.

The airport is expected to become a major aviation hub in North India and will play an important role in improving connectivity, boosting tourism, and supporting economic growth in the region. The board will soon begin the formal process to select a permanent CEO.
