Noida Airport News: 27-Km Light Restrictions Introduced to Ensure Flight Safety

Noida Airport News
The Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has imposed restrictions on the use of laser beams, artificial lights, light shows and other displays within a 27-km radius of Noida International Airport in Jewar. The move has been taken to protect aircraft operations and maintain aviation safety around the newly operational airport.
District Magistrate Medha Roopam said that the use of laser beams or other prohibited forms of artificial lighting within the designated area without permission would be treated as a violation of aviation safety regulations. People and organisations found using such lights without approval could face fines and legal action under the applicable laws.
Laser beams and powerful artificial lights can create serious problems for aircraft, particularly during take-off and landing. A laser directed towards an aircraft can temporarily distract or blind pilots and affect their ability to safely operate the aircraft.
Bright lights used during shows, events and other displays can also create visual disturbances for pilots. This is especially important near an airport, where aircraft operate at lower altitudes during arrival and departure.
For this reason, authorities have created a designated prohibited area around Noida International Airport where certain types of artificial lighting cannot be used without permission.
The restrictions have been imposed under provisions of the Aircraft Act, 2024, the Aircraft Rules, 1937, and related government regulations. The district administration has warned that unauthorised use of prohibited lighting within the 27-km zone will attract action.
Noida International Airport is located in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddh Nagar. The airport was inaugurated on March 28, 2026, and commercial passenger operations began on June 15.
The airport is expected to improve air connectivity for western Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region. As flight operations increase, maintaining a safe environment around the airport is considered important.
The restrictions on artificial lighting are therefore aimed at preventing avoidable risks to aircraft and passengers.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government is planning to introduce public bus services connecting the capital with Noida International Airport. Officials are considering bus services from major interstate bus terminals, including Anand Vihar and Kashmere Gate, to Jewar airport.
The plan is part of efforts to improve public transport connectivity between Delhi and the newly opened airport. Delhi and Uttar Pradesh transport authorities are also expected to work on a Reciprocal Transport Agreement for the proposed services.
The Delhi Transport Corporation has already approved a plan to introduce electric interstate buses on several routes.
With stronger public transport connectivity and stricter aviation safety measures, authorities are working to support the smooth growth of Noida International Airport while ensuring the safety of aircraft, pilots and passengers.
