Archer Aviation Partners with ITA Airways to Explore Electric Air Taxi Services in Italy

Archer Aviation News

Archer Aviation and ITA Airways have signed an agreement to explore an electric air taxi network across Italy, connecting airports with major cities and popular destinations.

The proposed service will use Archer’s Midnight electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. One potential route is between Rome Fiumicino Airport and the city centre. Archer estimates that journeys taking around 60 minutes by road could be completed in less than 10 minutes by air taxi.

ITA Airways will explore integrating the services with its existing flight network to provide passengers with easier airport-to-city connections. The partnership makes ITA Airways the first European airline to join Archer’s global airline partnership network.

The companies will also assess potential routes, airport infrastructure requirements and operational arrangements needed to introduce electric air taxi services in Italy.

Archer’s Midnight aircraft is designed to carry four passengers and a pilot. It uses electric propulsion and is intended for short urban and regional journeys.

The proposed network could offer an alternative to road transport for passengers travelling between airports, business districts and tourist destinations.
