The Uttar Pradesh government plans to develop a “Singapore City” in Sector 7 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region, close to the Noida International Airport. The idea was discussed at a meeting in Lucknow on Thursday between Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and a 14-member delegation of Singaporean industrialists and investors.

During the meeting, the chief minister proposed setting up a Singapore City near the airport. About 500 acres of land will be allotted for the project. He also pointed out several areas where Uttar Pradesh and Singapore could work together.

The Singapore delegation is interested in investing in these areas:

  • Logistics and warehousing
  • Semiconductors and electronics manufacturing
  • Data centres, cloud services and artificial intelligence
  • Green energy, including solar power and green hydrogen
  • Waste management and water recycling
  • Urban planning
  • Hospitality

The chief minister said Singapore’s technology and the state’s potential could open a new chapter in growth. He also noted that Uttar Pradesh makes around 55% of India’s mobile phones and 60% of its electronic components.

The visit follows the chief minister’s trip to Singapore in February this year, which was meant to strengthen investment ties. Earlier this week, the delegation, led by Singapore Business Federation chairperson Mark Lee, visited industrial areas in Noida and Greater Noida. Members praised the state’s infrastructure, ease of doing business and investor-friendly policies.

They also spoke well of projects such as Film City, Toy Park, Apparel Park, Medical Devices Park and the proposed semiconductor cluster in Greater Noida and the YEIDA region. They said these projects match international standards.

At the meeting, the chief minister also handed over an eligibility certificate to Greater Nashik Infracon Pvt Ltd, which is linked to the Singapore-based Universal Success Enterprises Group. The company will get 50 acres of land in YEIDA’s Sector 8D to build an integrated manufacturing facility called the Universal Packaging Hub. The investment is ₹775 crore, and the project is expected to create 1,880 direct jobs.
