Daman, May 26, 2026: Daman is preparing to welcome its first commercial airport operations as the newly developed Daman Airport is expected to begin services in the first half of June 2026. The airport is set to become India’s newest coastal regional aviation hub under the Central Government’s UDAN regional connectivity scheme. According to reports, the inauguration of the airport may be carried out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking an important milestone for aviation and infrastructure development in the Union Territory.
The new airport has been built in the Marwad area of Daman at a project cost of approximately Rs 97 crore. The project has been funded by the Union Territory administration with support from the Government of India.The airport is expected to significantly improve connectivity for Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and nearby industrial regions such as Vapi in Gujarat. Residents and businesses in the region have long awaited better air connectivity, and the airport is expected to reduce travel time while supporting economic growth.
Alliance Air is expected to launch the first commercial services from Daman Airport. Initial flight operations will connect Daman with major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad using ATR aircraft designed for regional routes. These routes are expected to benefit tourists, business travellers, industrial workers, and local residents. The direct flights will make travel easier for passengers who currently rely mainly on road transport to reach larger airports in Gujarat or Maharashtra.
