The incident reportedly took place at around 9:30 am on August 16, 2026, during the passenger’s pre-flight security screening. The passenger was travelling with his wife and was scheduled to fly to Mumbai on Air India Express flight IX-1810.
According to airport authorities, the passenger had declared that he was carrying weapons. As part of the required security procedure, airport personnel began inspecting the declared weapons. During the checking process, a round was fired, resulting in injuries to two AAICLAS screeners.
The injured personnel were immediately taken to New Laxmi Trauma Centre for medical treatment. Their condition and the exact nature of their injuries were not immediately available.
