Indian Aviation News: Aviation Sector Misses Parliamentary Discussion Time Amid Monsoon Session Disruptions

Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu has expressed disappointment over the limited parliamentary discussion on the aviation sector during the Monsoon Session, which was adjourned sine die following repeated disruptions by the Opposition.
In a social media statement, Naidu said that the aviation sector, which he described as an aspirational and rapidly growing area, did not receive the parliamentary time it deserved. He was particularly looking forward to responding to questions concerning civil aviation and developments in the sector.
According to the Minister, as many as 28 Starred Questions related to Civil Aviation were scheduled for discussion during the session. He highlighted that this figure is nearly twice the number of Starred Questions taken up on civil aviation during the Monsoon Session in 2013, when 14 such questions were considered.
Naidu said the rise in parliamentary questions reflects the increasing expectations and aspirations of people across India for better air connectivity and improved airport infrastructure. He linked this growing demand to the expansion of regional connectivity under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme.
The UDAN initiative has played a key role in connecting underserved and unserved cities and towns with the wider aviation network. With passenger traffic increasing and new airports being developed across the country, aviation has become an increasingly important part of India’s infrastructure and economic growth story.
The Minister’s comments also underline the growing political and public interest in issues related to airport development, regional connectivity and the expansion of India’s aviation network.
With several questions unable to be taken up due to disruptions, Naidu indicated that an opportunity was missed to discuss the government’s initiatives and address concerns surrounding the country’s rapidly evolving civil aviation sector.
The development comes as India continues to strengthen its domestic aviation infrastructure and expand air connectivity to more regions, particularly smaller cities and underserved areas.
