Archer Aviation Unveils Air Taxi Networks Across Houston, Dallas and Austin

  • Archer unveiled plans for air taxi networks across three cities of the Texas Triangle — with the goal of giving Texans in America’s fastest growing megaregion a way to skip traffic and turn hour-long drives into 10–20 minute flights on its all-electric Midnight air taxi.
  • Archer’s planned network in Dallas–Fort Worth would link the Metroplex’s major airports to the region’s business districts, like the Dallas Star, home of the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters and practice facility, at Frisco Station.
  • In Houston, home to some of the nation’s worst congestion, Archer’s planned air taxi network aims to connect the city’s major airports to its business centers and coastal destinations, from the beaches of Galveston to downtown hotel properties like the Thompson Hotel Helipad.
  • The network in Austin aims to connect the city’s major airports like Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and the helipad at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), home to the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix.
  • To give Texans an up close look at the new technology, Archer will bring its Midnight aircraft to the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix from October 22 – 25 in Austin and show the future of mobility in the Fan Zone and the F1 Paddock.

Archer Aviation yesterday revealed plans for three air taxi networks serving Austin, Dallas and Houston with the goal of increasing connectivity between major airports, business districts, and coastal destinations in the fastest growing megaregion in the United States.

The Texas Triangle is home to more than 20 million people and several of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country. Commuters in Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth and Austin lose days each year sitting in traffic, with congestion costing the state billions in lost time, productivity, and infrastructure costs.

Archer’s planned network In Dallas–Fort Worth will connect major airports including Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Dallas Love Field, Addison Airport, Arlington Municipal Airport, Fort Worth Meacham International Airport and Fort Worth Alliance Airport with major business hubs like the Dallas Star in Frisco Station.

HOUSTON

In Houston, home to some of the nation’s worst congestion, Archer’s planned air taxi network will link the city’s major airports like George Bush Intercontinental Airport, William P. Hobby Airport, and Sugar Land Regional Airport, with the Thompson Hotel Helipad downtown and Galveston, turning the hour-plus drive from the city’s core to the coast into a short flight.

AUSTIN

Austin’s planned network will connect the city’s major airports like Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Austin Executive Airport with the F1 Circuit Helipad at the Circuit of The Americas – making F1 Grand Prix races minutes away for Texans and visitors.

Today’s announcement comes on the heels of Archer completing the Northern California leg of its ‘No Roads’ flight tour which included multiple flights over the San Francisco Bay. Flying into seven cities over a three day period, Archer gave people across the Bay Area a chance to see the benefits all-electric air taxis can bring to their communities: low noise, zero operating emissions, and the ability to skip over crowded highways.

These flights demonstrated Midnight’s ability to seamlessly integrate into complex urban airspace much like the skies above Houston, Dallas and Austin. Archer plans to fly in Los Angeles next in preparation for LA28 ahead of planned operations in Texas under the White House’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). To give Texans an up close look at the new technology, Archer will display its Midnight aircraft at the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix from October 22–25.

America’s Consortium for Electric Skyways (ACES), launched by Archer, BETA and Macquarie Capital to electrify up to 250 air taxi sites across America, is working with the Texas Department of Transportation and state and local partners to expand interoperable charging infrastructure across Texas at key locations like airports, FBOs and other points of interest to support operations under the White House’s eIPP. Archer’s planned networks aim to set the region up for air taxi flights across the Texas Triangle as part of the Texas eIPP program.

Archer’s goal with its Midnight aircraft is to transform urban travel, replacing long commutes with quiet, all-electric flights that dramatically reduce travel times compared to traditional ground transportation. Archer’s all-electric Midnight air taxi is designed around the urban air mobility use case with the ability to conduct rapid back-to-back flights with zero operating emissions.
