Airline News

Air India and Air India Express have extended the cancellation of their flights to and from Riyadh and Dammam in Saudi Arabia till 7 November 2026. Flights to and from Jeddah will stay suspended till 31 October. The airlines announced the decision on Saturday, 24 October 2026.

In a post on X, Air India said that “in view of the prevailing situation in the region,” its flights and those of Air India Express to and from Riyadh and Dammam will remain suspended until 7 November. Services connecting Jeddah will remain suspended until 31 October.

Earlier, the two airlines had cancelled their Saudi Arabia services only till 24 October. The new announcement extends that period.

Air India said passengers who hold confirmed bookings issued on or before 24 October can choose between two options:

  • Flexible rebooking on another date.
  • A full refund if the booking is cancelled.

Affected passengers should check their booking details and contact the airline for help.

IndiGo and Akasa Air have also cancelled their services to Saudi Arabian cities. The reason given is the rising geopolitical tension in the region and attacks at airports in the Gulf country.

On Saturday, IndiGo said that after a careful assessment, its flights to and from Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah will stay cancelled till 31 October. A day earlier, on Friday, the airline had announced that its Riyadh flights were cancelled till 31 October. For the other three cities, cancellations were then in place only till 27 October. These have now been extended.

Many Indians travel to Saudi Arabia for work, family visits and religious travel such as Umrah. Cancellations on so many routes can disrupt travel plans for a large number of passengers. Some may have to postpone trips, change their dates or look for refunds.

  • Check the airline’s official website, app or social media for the latest updates.
  • Do not go to the airport without confirming that the flight is operating.
  • Choose rebooking or a refund as per your needs.
  • Keep your booking details and payment proof safe.

The airlines have not said whether the cancellations will be extended further beyond the announced dates. They are likely to make a decision based on how the situation in the region develops. Passengers should keep watching for official updates.
