A Chennai-bound IndiGo flight received a threat message at Delhi airport on Friday afternoon, 23 October 2026. The aircraft was moved to the isolation bay for anti-sabotage checks, according to sources. The flight did not take off, news agency PTI reported.

The flight was 6E 6091, a Delhi-Chennai service operated with an A321 neo aircraft. It was due to depart at around 3.15 pm, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24.com.

Reports say the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) received a call about a threat message concerning the flight. A message reading “Do not fly 6E 6091” was found in one of the aircraft’s lavatories, PTI reported.

It could not be immediately confirmed whether the message was written on a piece of paper or on the lavatory wall.

The aircraft had already pushed back from the gate and was preparing for takeoff when the message was discovered. After this, it was decided to move the plane to the isolation bay for anti-sabotage checks, the sources said.

An isolation bay is a special parking area at an airport. It is placed away from terminals and other aircraft. When a plane receives a threat, it is moved there so that security teams can check it carefully without putting passengers, staff or other planes at risk. Anti-sabotage checks usually include searching the cabin, cargo hold and other parts of the aircraft.

The report did not say how many passengers were on board. It also did not mention whether they were taken off the aircraft, or how they will travel to Chennai. At the time of reporting, there was no official statement from IndiGo or airport authorities.

Most threats of this kind turn out to be false. Even so, airlines and security agencies treat every threat as real until the aircraft is fully checked. Safety rules require this, and it often leads to delays or cancellations. Passengers should follow the instructions of airline and security staff during such situations.

This incident comes in the same week that a handwritten bomb threat note at Kolkata airport triggered a security search. Such cases show how airport and airline staff must stay alert at all times.

The checks on the aircraft were still going on at the time of the report. More details, including the result of the search and what happens to the flight, are awaited.
