Trichy International Airport has improved passenger facilities at its new integrated passenger terminal by adding new signboards and digital display units. The new signage has been introduced for both domestic and international passengers to make it easier for them to find different areas inside the airport.
The improvements are part of the Yatri Sewa Abhiyan 2026, an ongoing passenger service campaign being carried out by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The campaign aims to improve facilities and make air travel more convenient for passengers.
According to airport officials, 13 new digital signboards have been installed at important locations inside the terminal. These include areas near the Security Hold Areas (SHAs), the international bus lounge and the Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC).
The airport has also added digital display units to help passengers find important facilities such as toilets, prayer rooms and terminal exits. These signs are available at both arrival and departure areas.
One of the key features of the new signage is that information is displayed in English, Tamil and Hindi. This is expected to help passengers from different parts of India navigate the terminal more easily.
The airport is also working on other passenger facilities as part of the campaign. Officials said that additional baggage trolleys have been placed near the city-side entry and exit points, arrival gates and parking areas. Existing trolleys are also being improved to provide better service to passengers.
Seating arrangements inside and around the terminal are also being reviewed. Seating benches are being overhauled as part of the improvement work.
The availability of wheelchairs for passengers who need assistance has also been checked. Airport officials have carried out an audit of wheelchair facilities to identify areas where improvements may be required.
The passenger facility improvement drive is scheduled to continue until October 10, 2026. The airport management is focusing on better signs, easier navigation and improved basic facilities for passengers.
