Noida International Airport News

The ePlane Company and Noida International Airport have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop an ecosystem for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The partnership will focus on creating the infrastructure, operating procedures and regulatory framework needed to support electric air taxi services.

Ubifly Technologies, which operates as The ePlane Company, is working on its electric air taxi, the e200X. Under the partnership, both organisations will work together to prepare the systems needed to operate these aircraft from the airport.

The agreement will cover several important areas, including vertiports, charging stations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), Vertiport Management Systems and operational processes. These facilities and systems will be important for the safe and efficient operation of electric aircraft.

The partnership aims to support different types of eVTOL services in the region. These could include airport-to-airport transportation, travel within cities and emergency air ambulance services using the ePlane e200X.

Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL), the concessionaire for Noida International Airport, will provide space within the airport premises for various activities. This space will be used for proof-of-concept trials, vertiports and charging infrastructure.

The partnership also focuses on regulatory coordination. Developing electric air taxi services requires more than just aircraft technology. Airports also need suitable ground infrastructure, operating procedures and regulatory systems before commercial operations can begin.

According to ePlane founder and director Satyanarayanan Chakravarthy, electric air taxi operations require the development of aircraft as well as supporting infrastructure and operational systems.

The collaboration between ePlane and Noida International Airport is therefore aimed at preparing the airport for future electric aviation services. The initial work will help test the technology and develop the infrastructure required for eVTOL operations.

If the planned trials and infrastructure development progress successfully, the partnership could help establish a framework for electric air taxi operations around the Noida region. The project will also provide an opportunity to develop practical procedures for using eVTOL aircraft at an airport.

The MoU marks a step towards building an electric aviation ecosystem at Noida International Airport, with a focus on air taxis, emergency services and future urban air mobility.
