Navi Mumbai Airport News
Daily flights between Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and Sindhudurg are expected to start soon. The service will give passengers a direct air link between the two regions.
Deepak Kapoor, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), shared the proposed schedule on X. He said the flights would operate seven days a week.
According to the announcement, the timings are:
- Navi Mumbai to Sindhudurg: The flight will leave Navi Mumbai at 7.55 am.
- Sindhudurg to Navi Mumbai: The return flight will leave Sindhudurg at 9.25 am.
The report did not give the exact arrival times, the start date or the ticket prices. These are expected to be announced later.
The announcement follows passenger demand for a direct connection. It also follows the Maharashtra government’s decision to provide Viability Gap Funding (VGF) under the UDAN scheme.
VGF is financial support given to airlines flying on regional routes that may not be profitable at first. UDAN is the central government’s Regional Connectivity Scheme, which aims to make air travel available to more people..
