Kolkata Airport News: Wanted Cyber Fraud Accused Held Fleeing to Dubai

Kolkata Airport News
A man wanted in several cyber fraud cases in Karnataka was arrested at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. Police said he was allegedly trying to leave the country for Dubai.
The arrest was reported on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The accused has been named as Sheikh Sabir. According to officials, immigration authorities stopped him in the early hours of Tuesday as he was getting ready to board a flight to Dubai.
Sabir had been on the radar of the Karnataka Police and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with several fraud cases registered in Karnataka. The report did not give details of the cases, such as the amount of money involved or how many people were cheated.
A lookout circular had been issued against him because he had avoided arrest for a long time. A lookout circular is an alert sent to immigration officers at airports and other entry and exit points. It asks them to stop a person wanted by the police from leaving the country, or to inform the agency that issued it. When Sabir’s details were checked at immigration, officers were able to stop him before he boarded the flight.
After he was intercepted, Sabir was handed over to the airport police. He was then formally arrested by the Bidhannagar Police. Karnataka Police and the CID are expected to take further steps in the cases against him.
