Greater Noida is planning major road connectivity projects to improve the movement of passengers and goods in the region. The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has proposed a 105-metre-wide road up to the Hapur bypass to improve connectivity with the Ganga Expressway. At the same time, it has proposed a separate freight corridor connecting the Multi Modal Logistics Hub (MMLH) with Noida International Airport at Jewar.
The proposals are part of a plan to separate freight and passenger traffic in Greater Noida. The objective is to reduce congestion on existing roads and create better links between important highways, logistics centres and the airport.
Under the proposal, a 105-metre-wide road will be developed towards the Hapur bypass. The planned connectivity will extend for around 15 km and provide a direct link between Greater Noida and the Ganga Expressway. Officials said the project could reduce travel time between Noida-Greater Noida and the Ganga Expressway to around 30 to 45 minutes.
The improved connection is expected to benefit both commuters and commercial vehicles. A better road link to the Ganga Expressway could also make travel easier between Greater Noida and other parts of Uttar Pradesh.
The proposal was discussed at a meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta in Lucknow. Additional Chief Secretary, Industrial Development, Alok Kumar, also attended the meeting.
GNIDA has also proposed a six-lane elevated road between the Multi Modal Logistics Hub and Noida International Airport in Jewar.
The proposed freight road would run parallel to the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). Its main purpose would be to provide a faster route for goods moving from the logistics hub to the airport’s air cargo terminal.
This direct connection could make transportation of cargo more efficient. Goods arriving at the logistics hub could be moved towards the airport without using routes that carry large volumes of passenger traffic.
Separating freight and passenger movement is one of the main objectives of the proposed changes to the Greater Noida Master Plan 2041. Heavy commercial vehicles can often add to congestion on roads used by daily commuters. Dedicated freight routes could help reduce this pressure.
Greater Noida is developing into an important industrial and logistics centre, with projects such as the Multi Modal Logistics Hub and Multi Modal Transport Hub planned in the region. Better road links between these facilities and Noida International Airport could support future growth in logistics and trade.
The proposed road projects are expected to strengthen Greater Noida’s links with major highways and transport facilities. The Ganga Expressway connection could improve regional road travel, while the freight corridor to Jewar airport could support faster cargo movement.
The proposals are still part of the planning process, but they indicate a broader effort to build a more organised transportation network around Greater Noida. With the development of Noida International Airport and major logistics infrastructure, improved road connectivity is expected to become increasingly important for the region’s economic and industrial growth.
