Chennai, August 19: An IndiGo flight travelling from Tiruchy to Chennai was delayed by nearly six hours on Tuesday after a technical issue was detected before departure. The delay affected around 140 passengers who had to wait at Tiruchy airport until the problem was resolved.

The flight was scheduled to operate from Chennai to Tiruchy in the morning before returning to Chennai. According to the available information, the aircraft was scheduled to depart Chennai at around 7:10 am and reached Tiruchy at approximately 8:10 am.

The aircraft was initially expected to leave Tiruchy for Chennai at around 8:30 am. However, while preparations were being made for the return flight, a technical issue was detected. As a result, the aircraft could not depart according to the original schedule.

Passengers waiting for the Tiruchy-Chennai flight were asked to remain at the airport while airline and technical teams worked to identify and rectify the problem. The unexpected delay caused inconvenience to travellers who had planned their journeys around the morning flight.

After the technical issue was addressed and the aircraft was cleared for operation, the flight finally departed from Tiruchy at around 2:15 pm. It reached Chennai at approximately 3:20 pm, nearly six hours later than the originally planned departure time.

Chennai airport officials described the delay as being caused by an operational reason. Technical checks are an important part of airline operations, and aircraft are generally required to undergo necessary inspections before being allowed to fly when a technical problem is detected.

Although the delay resulted in a long wait for passengers, the issue was addressed before the aircraft resumed its journey. Ensuring the aircraft is safe to operate is a key priority, even when this results in delays.

The incident highlights how technical issues can affect flight schedules and passenger travel plans. A single aircraft may operate multiple flights during the day, meaning a delay on one sector can also affect subsequent services.

For the around 140 passengers travelling from Tiruchy to Chennai, the nearly six-hour delay resulted in significant inconvenience. However, the flight eventually completed its journey and arrived in Chennai in the afternoon.

Airline operations can sometimes face unexpected technical or operational challenges, and passengers are advised to check flight status before travelling, particularly when schedules are affected by such issues.
