The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was held at Delhi airport for three hours late on 19 October 2026. The party also claims he was given a challan of Rs 50,000 when he returned from a food trade fair in Paris.

AAP state media in charge Baltej Pannu made the claims. He said Mann was deliberately stopped when he arrived at Delhi airport after his trip to Paris. According to Pannu, officials gave excuses during this time, such as saying the luggage was “still arriving” or was “still being checked.” Pannu called these excuses “outright lies.”

He further alleged that after three hours, Mann was finally allowed to leave. By then, Mann had put his luggage in his vehicle and was about to depart. At that point, Pannu said, officials came running after him and told him they were under “tremendous pressure from above.” They then issued a challan of Rs 50,000.

Pannu did not say why the fine was imposed. He only alleged that the whole episode was “carried out under orders from above.” The report does not mention any official statement from the airport authorities, customs officials or the Centre about the matter. The claims are allegations made by the party, and they have not been independently confirmed in this report.

Pannu said the incident shows a deliberate attempt by the BJP-led Centre to “humiliate” Mann. He also said it was an effort to “undermine Punjab’s dignity.” He described the episode as a direct attack on the identity and dignity of Punjab.

Mann was returning from a food trade fair in Paris when the alleged incident took place. The report does not give further details about the fair or the length of his visit.

The matter is likely to become political, as AAP has directly blamed the Centre. It will be important to see whether airport authorities or the central government respond to the allegations. A reply could explain why Mann was reportedly kept waiting and what the Rs 50,000 challan was for. Until then, the full facts remain unclear.
