Uttarakhand Helicopter Crash

A helicopter operated by Trans Bharat Aviation crashed near Joshimath in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on Friday, October 30, killing all six people on board, including the pilot.

The helicopter was carrying five passengers and one pilot while travelling from Badrinath to Sahastradhara in Dehradun. The aircraft departed at approximately 1:14 pm and lost communication while flying over the Joshimath valley. Its tracking system also stopped receiving signals, prompting authorities to launch a search operation.

The wreckage was located near Chayee village, close to Joshimath and Hathi Parvat. Teams from the district administration, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were deployed to the crash site.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed the crash and said a joint rescue operation had been launched. He also stated that he was monitoring the situation.

The incident occurred amid adverse weather conditions across Uttarakhand, with rainfall and snowfall reported in several areas. Kedarnath Dham also experienced the season’s first heavy snowfall, while temperatures dropped across the region.

As a precautionary measure, authorities grounded the entire fleet of Trans Bharat Aviation following the incident.
