Chennai Airport News: 12 IndiGo Flights to Andhra Cancelled Due to Cyclone

Chennai Airport News
Twelve IndiGo flights connecting Chennai with three cities in Andhra Pradesh were cancelled on Wednesday because of Cyclone Arnab. The cancellations caused trouble for many passengers at Chennai airport.
The cyclone crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast on Wednesday, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. Because of the bad weather, IndiGo cancelled flights between Chennai and Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry.
In total, 12 flights were cancelled. Six were departures from Chennai, and six were arrivals into Chennai from the three Andhra cities.
The six cancelled flights leaving Chennai were:
- Chennai to Visakhapatnam at 5.25 am
- Chennai to Vijayawada at 7 am
- Chennai to Visakhapatnam at 10.30 am
- Chennai to Rajahmundry at 2.35 pm
- Chennai to Vijayawada at 2.45 pm
- Chennai to Visakhapatnam at 4 pm
Six IndiGo flights that were due to arrive in Chennai from Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry were also cancelled.
The cancellations affected travellers between Chennai and three cities in Andhra Pradesh. Many passengers were inconvenienced at Chennai Airport, and some were left stranded without a way to reach their destinations by air. Early-morning flights were among those cancelled, so some travellers may have only learned about the problem after arriving at the airport.
Cyclones bring strong winds, heavy rain and poor visibility. These conditions make it unsafe for planes to take off and land. Airlines cancel flights as a safety measure, even though this causes difficulty for passengers. The safety of passengers and crew is always the first priority.
Passengers were advised to check their flight status with the airline before going to the airport. If your flight is cancelled, you can follow these steps:
- Check your flight status on the airline’s website or app.
- Contact the airline to ask about rebooking or a refund.
- Consider travelling by road or rail only if conditions are safe.
- Keep your phone number and email updated with the airline to receive alerts.
More flights to and from the affected areas may be changed or cancelled while the weather remains poor, so travellers should keep checking for updates.
