Akasa Air has announced it will move its Mumbai-Jeddah flights to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) starting in December. The flights will no longer operate from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). Akasa joins a growing list of airlines relocating to the new airport ahead of the redevelopment of Terminal 1 at Mumbai airport.

Akasa Air and Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), which operates NMIA, announced on Tuesday. Bookings for the service opened on October 26. Passengers can book tickets through the airline’s website, its mobile apps and online travel agencies.

Akasa’s decision comes just after similar plans from IndiGo and the Air India Group, which were revealed on Sunday. They plan to move their international operations to NMIA in stages.

Together, IndiGo and Air India Express plan to shift 38 daily international flights, counting both arrivals and departures. This could move around three million international passengers every year to the new airport.

IndiGo plans to move 12 daily international departures to 11 existing destinations, including Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Muscat. The airline will also start a new daily service to Kathmandu.

Air India Express will begin four daily domestic flights from NMIA in December 2026. Following this, it will gradually transfer its international operations to Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Doha, Muscat, and Sharjah starting in January 2027. The airline expects to complete the entire shift by the IATA Northern Summer 2027 season.
