Chennai Airport News: IndiGo to Operate Two Daily Flights to Salem From October 25

Air connectivity between Salem and Chennai is set to improve as IndiGo plans to operate two direct flights every day on the route from October 25, 2026.
At present, passengers travelling between the two cities have one direct flight service each day from Salem Airport at Kamalapuram in Omalur. The introduction of another service will give travellers two flight options every day and provide greater flexibility for planning their journeys.
According to the schedule provided by airport authorities, the first flight will depart from Chennai at 11:00 am and reach Salem at 12:10 pm. The aircraft will then operate the return service from Salem at 12:30 pm, arriving in Chennai at 1:35 pm.
The second flight will leave Chennai at 3:40 pm and arrive in Salem at 4:50 pm. After a short turnaround, the aircraft will depart from Salem at 5:10 pm and reach Chennai at 6:15 pm.
The additional service is expected to provide more travel choices for passengers moving between Salem and Chennai. The increased frequency could be particularly useful for people who need to travel between the two cities for business, work and other regular activities.
Salem is an important industrial and commercial centre in western Tamil Nadu. Chennai, meanwhile, is the State capital and a major centre for business, government, education and transportation. Many people travel between the two cities for professional and personal reasons.
IndiGo already operates daily flights connecting Salem with other cities, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kochi. The addition of another Chennai service will further expand the airline’s connectivity from Salem.
