Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal building of NAMO Airport in Daman on June 5, marking a major milestone in the Union Territory’s aviation and infrastructure development journey. The modern facility is expected to enhance regional air connectivity, support tourism growth, and improve access for businesses and travelers visiting Daman.

The inauguration took place during the Prime Minister’s visit to Daman, where he also launched and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth approximately ₹2,970 crore across sectors such as healthcare, tourism, infrastructure, and connectivity. The airport terminal was one of the key highlights of the visit.

According to official information, the new terminal building has been designed to meet the growing infrastructure needs of the Union Territory. The facility features modern passenger amenities and can accommodate around 180 passengers at a time, significantly improving the travel experience for residents and visitors.

The airport project is expected to strengthen Daman’s connection with major cities including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Delhi. Improved air connectivity is likely to make the coastal Union Territory more accessible to tourists, investors, and business travelers, contributing to local economic growth and development.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the new terminal building would help cater to the increasing infrastructure demands of Daman while boosting tourism and commercial activities in the region. In a statement following the inauguration, he noted that the project would play an important role in supporting the Union Territory’s future growth.

The inauguration of the terminal aligns with the Government of India’s broader efforts to expand aviation infrastructure across smaller cities and Union Territories. By improving airport facilities and enhancing regional connectivity, the initiative aims to bring more regions into India’s growing civil aviation network and create new opportunities for economic development.

Industry observers believe the new terminal will act as a catalyst for tourism and business activity in Daman, which has traditionally relied heavily on road transport. With improved air services and modern passenger facilities, the airport is expected to become a key gateway for travelers visiting the region.

The new NAMO Airport terminal represents a significant step forward for Daman’s transport infrastructure and is expected to support the Union Territory’s long-term economic and tourism ambitions.
