Deutsche Aircraft Appoints Wolfgang Kuhl as VP Programs & Innovation

Deutsche Aircraft has appointed Wolfgang Kuhl as Vice President Programs & Innovation, expanding its leadership structure as the D328eco programme moves into a more advanced stage of development.
Kuhl steps into the role after serving as Director Program D328eco since 2023, where he led the aircraft through key design and industrialisation milestones. His work focused on advancing the re-industrialisation of the Dornier 328 platform, while stabilising both the technical and commercial foundations of the programme at a critical stage.
Before joining Deutsche Aircraft, Kuhl held senior positions at Airbus Defence and Space, where he was involved in complex multinational aerospace programmes, including work linked to unmanned aerial systems. His experience in managing large-scale, multi-stakeholder aerospace projects is expected to support Deutsche Aircraft as it expands both its civil and defence-oriented roadmap.
In his new role, Kuhl will oversee the company’s full programme portfolio while shaping its product strategy. This includes continued development of the D328eco, alongside efforts to expand the platform’s applicability in defence and multi-role operations.
“I’m pleased to step into the role of Vice President Programs & Innovation at Deutsche Aircraft,” Kuhl said. “Building on my experience leading the D328eco, I look forward to taking on broader responsibilities and continuing to drive innovative and resilient aviation solutions. A key priority will be strengthening our multi-role capabilities in the field of defence applications to meet the needs of our volatile world.”
Deutsche Aircraft CEO Nico Neumann said Kuhl’s expanded responsibilities will also support the development of the D328MR, a variant positioned for defence and special mission use. “Wolfgang has played a crucial role in advancing the D328eco and shaping Deutsche Aircraft as an OEM. His expertise will now support the integration of advanced technologies, sustainability initiatives, and broader product strategy,” he said.
The appointment comes as Deutsche Aircraft continues to position the D328eco as a next-generation regional turboprop, while maintaining support for the in-service Dornier 328 fleet. At the same time, the company is widening its focus toward multi-role applications, reflecting growing demand for adaptable regional platforms across civil and defence sectors.
Kuhl will also lead efforts around cross-company innovation initiatives and partnerships, aimed at strengthening Deutsche Aircraft’s position in both segments as the programme progresses toward certification and entry into service.
