Sydney Airport has announced a new partnership with Travelex to provide improved foreign exchange and travel money services for passengers. The partnership will officially begin on July 1, 2026, and aims to make access to travel money easier, faster and more convenient for both domestic and international travellers.

Under the new agreement, Travelex will establish an extensive network of foreign exchange stores and ATMs throughout the airport. Initially, the company will open 10 foreign exchange stores at Terminal 1 International and install more than 20 ATMs across Sydney Airport’s terminals. These ATMs will allow passengers to withdraw both Australian dollars and foreign currencies, giving travellers more flexibility when preparing for their journeys.

The partnership comes after a competitive selection process conducted by Sydney Airport. Airport authorities were looking for a financial services provider that could modernise travel money services and better meet the changing needs of today’s travellers. With more people using digital services and expecting seamless travel experiences, Sydney Airport wanted a partner that could offer both traditional and digital travel money solutions.

One of the major benefits of the new partnership is the wide range of currencies available to passengers. Travellers will be able to access more than 50 foreign currencies through online pre-order services or by visiting Travelex stores at the airport. This feature will make it easier for passengers travelling to different parts of the world to obtain the currency they need before departure.

In addition to foreign exchange services, passengers can also purchase or reload the Travelex Travel Money Card. The prepaid card supports up to 10 different currencies and allows travellers to carry multiple currencies on a single card. This reduces the need to carry large amounts of cash and offers a secure and convenient payment option while travelling abroad.

Sydney Airport Group Executive Commercial, Mark Zaouk, said the partnership reflects the airport’s commitment to improving customer experience. According to him, the agreement with Travelex will provide passengers with greater choice, flexibility and convenience while enhancing overall airport services.

Travelex Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand, Asokan Sathurayar, also expressed enthusiasm about returning to Sydney Airport. He noted that the partnership is especially meaningful as Travelex celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. He said the company has made significant investments in digital technology, customer service and product innovation to deliver safe and flexible travel money solutions for modern travellers.

Travelex has extensive global experience in foreign exchange and travel money services. Its integrated approach combines physical stores, online ordering systems and prepaid travel cards to offer customers multiple ways to access and manage their money while travelling.

The partnership also supports Sydney Airport’s long-term strategy of improving passenger services and adapting to evolving travel trends. As international travel continues to recover and passenger numbers increase, demand for reliable and convenient financial services at airports is also growing.

By partnering with Travelex, Sydney Airport aims to create a smoother and more convenient travel experience. The expanded travel money services are expected to benefit millions of passengers by providing easier access to foreign currencies and modern payment solutions, making international travel more comfortable and stress-free.
