Star Air Launches 24 New Weekly Flights to Odisha, Enhancing East-West Regional Connectivity

The aviation arm of Sanjay Ghodawat Group, Star Air, is set to transform the landscape of regional travel in Eastern India with the introduction of 24 new weekly flights, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s commitment to accessible, reliable, and convenient air connectivity. This expansion includes the highly anticipated launch of a direct service between Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar, alongside the reinstatement of the Bhubaneswar-Jharsuguda connection, both scheduled to commence operations from 4th September 2026. By strengthening vital air corridors linking Telangana with key destinations across Odisha, Star Air is responding to the dynamic needs of business professionals, students, families, and leisure travellers alike.

The direct Hyderabad-Bhubaneswar service will play a pivotal role in connecting Hyderabad, a city that stands at the forefront of India’s IT, pharmaceutical, healthcare, education, and business sectors, with Bhubaneswar, the vibrant capital of Odisha and gateway to the state’s renowned cultural and temple heritage. Hyderabad’s strategic importance as an aviation hub continues to rise, with the city serving as a launchpad for regional and national air routes. With Rajiv Gandhi International Airport consistently ranking among the busiest airports in the country, Hyderabad is a critical node in India’s aviation network, facilitating seamless domestic and international travel. The new Star Air service is expected to further boost Hyderabad’s profile as a centre for both business and leisure travel, catering to the city’s growing population of professionals, entrepreneurs, and tourists.

Bhubaneswar is not only a hub for government, education, and commerce but also a gateway to Odisha’s rich history, spirituality, and tourism. The new Hyderabad–Bhubaneswar flight will unlock seamless access to major attractions such as Puri’s famous Jagannath Temple and the architectural marvels of Konark, drawing tourists, pilgrims, and cultural explorers from across the region and beyond. The enhanced air connection will also support the aspirations of students and working professionals who frequently travel between these two cities for education, employment, and personal commitments.

Simultaneously, the reinstated Bhubaneswar-Jharsuguda service is set to bridge eastern and western Odisha, linking the state capital with the industrial powerhouse of Jharsuguda and the broader Sambalpur region. This route will improve access to key industrial centres, pilgrimage sites, and popular destinations such as the Samaleswari Temple, Huma, and the Hirakud Dam. With Jharsuguda Airport serving as the nearest aviation gateway to Sambalpur and neighbouring districts, the route is poised to benefit not only residents and business travellers but also to support economic development, trade, and tourism throughout western Odisha.

Flights will operate six days a week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, offering unmatched flexibility for business trips, family visits, and weekend getaways. The schedule is designed to meet the needs of modern travellers who prioritise convenience and connectivity in their travel plans.

This expansion is part of a broader surge in India’s aviation sector, which continues to witness strong post-pandemic recovery and robust growth in regional connectivity. Star Air’s ongoing investments in new routes, modern fleets, and enhanced passenger experience are aligned with the government’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) initiative to link unserved and underserved airports, further supporting India’s economic development and mobility.

Tickets for all new and reinstated routes are now available for booking on www.starair.in and across leading travel platforms. Passengers are encouraged to book early to take advantage of the increased flexibility and convenience offered by these enhanced connections.
