Madhya Pradesh has achieved a major milestone in its aviation sector with the launch of its first direct international flight. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav flagged off the inaugural Air India Express flight connecting Indore with Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The launch of the new service marks the beginning of direct international air connectivity from the state and is expected to benefit business travelers, tourists, students, and members of the Indian community living in the UAE.

Speaking at the launch event, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said the new international flight is an important step in improving connectivity and promoting the economic development of Madhya Pradesh. He said the initiative reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that air travel should be affordable and accessible for every citizen.

The Chief Minister explained that the state’s aviation policy has been designed with this goal in mind. To encourage airlines to operate international routes from Madhya Pradesh, the state government has announced financial support of ₹15 lakh per flight. According to Dr. Yadav, this incentive will help airlines reduce operational costs and make air travel more affordable for passengers.

One of the biggest benefits of the new route is the reduction in airfare. The Chief Minister said that passengers earlier had to pay approximately ₹24,000 to ₹25,000 for a one-way ticket to Abu Dhabi when travelling through connecting flights. With the launch of the direct service, ticket prices are expected to fall to around ₹12,000 to ₹15,000, making international travel more affordable for many people.

The Air India Express flight will operate four days a week, providing regular connectivity between Indore and Abu Dhabi. The direct flight will significantly reduce travel time. Passengers will now be able to complete the journey in just 3 hours and 15 minutes.

Before the introduction of this service, travelers from Madhya Pradesh usually had to fly through Delhi or Mumbai to reach Abu Dhabi. These connecting journeys often took seven to eight hours, depending on flight schedules and layover times. The new direct route will save several hours of travel and provide greater convenience.

The launch is expected to benefit a wide range of passengers. Business professionals will have faster access to the UAE, which is one of India’s important trade and investment partners. Students travelling for education and families visiting relatives abroad will also enjoy shorter travel times and lower ticket prices.

The direct connection is also expected to boost tourism in both directions. Visitors from the UAE may find it easier to travel to Madhya Pradesh, which is known for its historical monuments, wildlife sanctuaries, religious destinations, and cultural heritage. At the same time, residents of Madhya Pradesh will have easier access to Abu Dhabi for tourism, business, and employment opportunities.

Aviation experts believe that international connectivity plays an important role in attracting investment and supporting economic growth. Direct flights encourage trade, improve business relations, and strengthen links between countries. They also help airports handle more passengers and create new employment opportunities in the aviation and tourism sectors.

The new service reflects the Madhya Pradesh government’s efforts to strengthen the state’s aviation infrastructure and expand its international presence. Officials hope that the success of the Indore–Abu Dhabi route will encourage airlines to introduce more international destinations from the state in the future.

With the launch of its first direct international flight, Madhya Pradesh has entered a new phase in its aviation journey. The Indore–Abu Dhabi service is expected to provide faster, more affordable, and more convenient travel while supporting tourism, trade, and economic development. As passenger demand grows, the state may witness further expansion of international air services in the coming years.
