Air connectivity between Chandigarh and Dharamsala is set to improve as the afternoon flight service between the two cities will resume from September 1, 2026. The service will provide a convenient travel option for passengers from the Kangra region as well as people travelling to Chandigarh for business, tourism and onward flights.
The non-stop IndiGo flight, numbered 6E 7722, will connect Gaggal Airport in Kangra with Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh. The flight will operate four days a week — Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
According to the schedule, the flight will depart from Gaggal Airport at 1:10 pm and reach Chandigarh at around 2:15 pm. The return service will leave Chandigarh at 2:45 pm and arrive at Gaggal Airport at approximately 3:50 pm.
The resumption of the flight is expected to make travel between the two destinations faster and more convenient. Passengers from Dharamsala, Kangra and nearby areas will get better access to Chandigarh, which is an important travel and business centre in the region.
The airfare for the Dharamsala-Chandigarh route will start at around Rs 3,200. For the Chandigarh-Dharamsala sector, fares will start at approximately Rs 3,617. Actual ticket prices may vary depending on booking time, availability and other factors.
The flight service had earlier been discontinued because of bad weather conditions in the hilly areas. Weather can affect flight operations in the Kangra region, particularly during periods of poor visibility and difficult flying conditions.
The return of the service is also important for passengers who need to travel beyond Chandigarh. The city airport offers connections to several other destinations, allowing passengers from the Kangra region to use Chandigarh as a gateway for onward journeys.
For tourists, the service could also make travel to and from Dharamsala more convenient. Dharamsala and the wider Kangra region attract visitors throughout the year because of their natural surroundings, tourism attractions and proximity to the Himalayan region.
