Air India News: Daily Nonstop Delhi to Toronto Flights Launch with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

Air India is set to improve connectivity between India and Canada by launching daily nonstop flights from Delhi to Toronto starting August 1, 2026. The airline will operate the route using its upgraded Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, offering passengers a faster and more comfortable travel experience.
The new service will remove the previous technical fuel stop in Vienna, Austria, which increased the total travel time for passengers. With the introduction of nonstop operations, the flight duration from Delhi (DEL) to Toronto (YYZ) will reduce from around 20 hours to approximately 17 hours, saving travellers nearly three hours.
The return flight from Toronto to Delhi will also continue as a nonstop service, with a flying time of up to 16 hours. Air India will operate the route every day of the week, restoring the schedule of seven flights per week. Earlier, the airline had temporarily reduced operations to five flights weekly due to higher fuel prices and airspace restrictions.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner used for this route will provide passengers with modern facilities across all cabin classes. The aircraft will feature 30 Business Class suites with direct aisle access, wireless charging facilities, personal storage space, large entertainment screens, and fully flat beds.
The aircraft will also include 28 Premium Economy seats arranged in a 2-3-2 layout. These seats will provide extra comfort with increased leg space, wider cushions, and adjustable leg and calf support. The Economy Class cabin will have 238 seats equipped with personal entertainment screens, Bluetooth audio connectivity, and charging options including USB and AC power outlets.
Air India will also introduce elements reflecting Indian culture and hospitality. The cabin design will include special mood lighting inspired by Indian wellness traditions, while passengers will be served specially prepared meals on premium tableware.
The Delhi-Toronto route is considered important because of the large Indian community living in Canada, along with thousands of students, business travellers, and tourists who travel between the two countries every year. The nonstop service will provide passengers with a more convenient alternative compared to flights requiring connections through other international hubs.
Passengers travelling on this route should ensure they have valid travel documents, including passports, visas, and required Canadian travel permissions before departure. Airlines and aviation authorities also provide passenger protection rules related to cancellations, delays, and flight disruptions.
