Air India will start four weekly non-stop flights between Delhi and Osaka from February 2, 2027. It will be the only airline to fly directly on this route. The move is part of the airline’s plan to grow its Japan network as more Indians travel to the country.

The flights will connect Delhi with Osaka’s Kansai International Airport using Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Flight AI360 will leave Delhi at 10.50 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. It will reach Osaka at 9.50 am the next day. The return flight, AI359, will leave Osaka at 11.50 am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. It will arrive in Delhi at 6.20 pm the same day. All timings are local.

According to airline officials, the Boeing 787-8 on this route will have 18 full-flat beds in Business Class and 241 seats in Economy Class.

Osaka will become Air India’s second destination in Japan, after Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. The airline already flies daily from Delhi to Haneda and four times a week from Mumbai.

The new route comes as travel, tourism and economic ties between India and Japan continue to grow. According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, more than 315,000 Indians visited Japan in 2025. This was 35 per cent higher than the previous year and nearly 80 per cent above pre-pandemic levels.

An airline spokesperson said passengers will be able to book open-jaw tickets. This means flying into Osaka and returning from Tokyo, or the other way round. The option is expected to help travellers who want to explore Japan’s popular Golden Route, which covers Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, and combine several places in one trip.

The flights will also offer onward connections across Air India’s domestic and international network through Delhi. This will make it easier for passengers from other cities to reach Osaka.
