Bhogapuram Airport Damaged Roads Leave Villages Cut Off, Farmers Struggle

Bhogapuram Airport News
Villages around the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district are facing serious road problems. Residents say heavy vehicles used during the airport’s construction have damaged the roads. They are now asking the government to lay new ones.
Several villages have raised the issue, including Dibbalapalem, Ravada, Byreddipalem, Gudepuvalasa and Kancheru. People in these villages say they need proper roads to carry on with their daily lives. The damaged roads have made travel difficult for everyone living in the area.
The airport has been built on nearly 2,500 acres of land. After its construction, many villages lost easy connectivity and were separated from one another. Roads that people once used to move between villages are no longer easy to use, which has made even short trips harder.
Farmers have been hit especially hard. The small approach roads that link the main villages to the fields have been damaged. Farmers from Dibbalapalem, Kavulavada and Jammayyapalem are facing difficulties because there are no proper roads.
They find it hard to bring their farm produce home after harvest. They also struggle to carry fertilisers and other inputs to their fields. For people who depend on farming for their income, this delay and extra effort can lead to losses.
Passengers living nearby say the service roads do not give access to the airport. As a result, they have to travel eight km to reach the highway. This adds to the time and cost of travel for local residents who wish to use the airport or move around the region.
Villagers want the government to build new roads and ensure proper connectivity. They say that while the airport is a major project for the region, the people living around it should not be left cut off. Better roads would help farmers reach their fields, allow villages to stay connected and let nearby residents access the airport easily.
