At the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) 2026 in Hamburg, Thales has unveiled FlytEDGE Aura, a new seat-end in-flight entertainment (IFE) solution for its cloud-native FlytEDGE platform, powered by the Onboard Data Centre.
Positioned as the lightest, brightest and most powerful IFE solution on the market, FlytEDGE Aura reflects how airlines are continuing to invest in embedded seatback systems even as connected cabin expectations evolve.
The system combines seat-end hardware with onboard processing through the Onboard Data Centre, allowing airlines to manage content, applications and services across the cabin. This architecture is increasingly central to how airlines balance embedded IFE with wireless and connected services, supported by an optimised seatback architecture.

FlytEDGE Aura introduces industry-first 4K HDR10+ Tandem OLED displays designed to deliver unparalleled brightness, best-in-class contrast ratio and superior durability, packaged within a beautiful, timeless industrial design.
The display features thinner bezels for a wider viewing surface, while a redesigned port module, 80% smaller than previous systems, helps reduce clutter at the seat. Audio capability is supported through dual Bluetooth 6.0 connections, enabling seamless device pairing and high-quality wireless audio, described as the fastest and most accurate connection in the air.
Each seat includes up to 120W of fast-charging power via dual USB-C ports, supporting high-power personal devices such as laptops. Connectivity is further supported through Wi-Fi 7.0 at every seat, described as “a backup for your backup,” providing redundancy and enabling continuous access to onboard services through the platform’s integrated architecture.

At the seat level, FlytEDGE Aura integrates a Qualcomm processor within each display, delivering performance that is six times more powerful than previous generations, built for today and the future.
The system is supported by a compact seat box capable of delivering up to 350W of power. Designed to support a quad-seat configuration, the system dynamically distributes power based on usage, supported by advanced power-management technology, making it the most powerful and adaptable seat box per square inch available today.
This combination of processing capability and power architecture is aligned with growing passenger expectations for responsive interfaces and the use of personal devices alongside embedded IFE.
Intelligent Design, Architected for Tomorrow
FlytEDGE Aura has been engineered with a focus on weight, modularity and long-term upgradeability. The system is more than 30% lighter than the previous generation, with an optimised seatback architecture, contributing to the reduction of fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions.
Its three-part modular display architecture—comprising smarts, port and screen modules—enables lightning-fast on-wing repairs and replacements, reducing maintenance time by up to 50% and lowering total cost of ownership.
The modular design also enables straightforward upgrades, ensuring the fleet remains future-proof and always relevant.
