Honeywell and Abu Dhabi Aviation collaborate to enhance MRO operations for helicopter avionics systems

AW139 – Honeywell’s Primus Epic integrated avionics system

Honeywell and Abu Dhabi Aviation have signed an agreement to enhance and accelerate maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations for AW139 helicopters, which utilise Honeywell’s Primus Epic integrated avionics system and other aircraft components.

This move will provide AW139 helicopter operators in the UAE with local repair logistics support, enhancing efficiency levels and reducing downtime.

Previously, helicopter operators in the region would send aircraft parts directly to Honeywell factories for repairs. Under the new agreement, they will have the opportunity to have Abu Dhabi Aviation manage the entire maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) service chain, including selecting the most suitable Honeywell repair facility, shipping parts, and monitoring the repair process until completion.

This partnership will help streamline and accelerate the repair process in the Middle East and Africa, while ensuring Honeywell’s continued quality within its global service network.

In this regard, Mike Vallelo, Vice President of Global Defense and Aerospace Technology at Honeywell Aerospace Technology, said: “The new agreement reflects the strength of our partnership with Abu Dhabi Aviation and our commitment to leading efforts to establish a promising future in the aviation sector. Together, we will work to reduce the logistical burden on customers in the UAE, making complex repair operations easier and faster.”

The AW139 is one of the most widely used helicopters in the Middle East and Africa, employed extensively in military and civil aviation, as well as by oil and gas operators. Honeywell and Abu Dhabi Aviation’s enhanced logistics model will contribute to improved fleet readiness for customers in these vital sectors.

The agreement between Honeywell and Abu Dhabi Aviation runs until 2029 and builds on their fruitful collaboration of the past 10 years, with the aim of enhancing the capabilities needed to carry out maintenance, repair and overhaul services across the Middle East and Africa.
