Malaysia Airlines launches India sale after months of steady build-up
- Malaysia Airlines launches India sale with fares from ₹15,799, valid for bookings until 30 September 2025 for travel through March 2026.
- The airline is adding daily Trivandrum flights and more services from Ahmedabad, while introducing the new A330neo with Wi-Fi and upgraded cabins.
- Firefly will open new ASEAN routes from Kuala Lumpur in November, as Malaysia Airlines also grows its fleet and begins using sustainable aviation fuel.

Malaysia Airlines has announced a limited-time sale for India, with bookings open until 30 September for travel through 31 March 2026. Return fares start at ₹15,799 in Economy and ₹65,999 in Business Class, covering routes such as Kolkata–Kuala Lumpur, Ahmedabad–Bali, Ahmedabad-Melbourne and Amritsar–Auckland.
The discounts are eye-catching, but they also come after several months in which the airline has been quietly strengthening its presence in India with more flights, newer aircraft, and wider holiday options.
More flights from India
In the last few months, Malaysia Airlines has added services from India’s south and west. Trivandrum will move to daily flights from 1 December 2025, and Ahmedabad will rise to five flights a week from 26 October. These changes are meant to capture strong family travel and small business demand to Southeast Asia and onwards to Australia and New Zealand.

The airline has started bringing in the Airbus A330neo, which offers quieter cabins, larger TV screens with Bluetooth, and free Wi-Fi on selected flights.
For Indian passengers, a small but symbolic change has been the addition of vegetarian satay in Business Class. These updates make long journeys, such as those from India to Melbourne or Auckland via Kuala Lumpur, more comfortable.
More leisure links through Kuala Lumpur
From November 2025, sister airline Firefly will launch new flights from Kuala Lumpur to Krabi, Siem Reap and Cebu. This means Indian travellers can book one ticket to Kuala Lumpur and connect easily to popular beach destinations, without having to rely on low-cost carriers with uneven schedules.

The wider Malaysia Airlines network has also been adjusting. In Australia, Adelaide will go daily by February 2026. In July, the airline ordered 20 more A330neos, showing that it is planning for steady growth on long-haul routes.
Why the timing matters
The India campaign is clearly aimed at Diwali and Christmas planners as well as families looking ahead to early 2026 trips. The fare points are pitched low enough to drive bookings quickly, but the added benefits—free baggage allowance, child discounts, the option to rebook without a fee—make the offer stand out.

Malaysia Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Dersenish Aresandiran, said:
“India remains an important market for us, and with ‘Time for Malaysia Airlines’, we are pleased to present travellers with even greater opportunities to plan ahead. This campaign underscores our commitment to delivering convenience, reliability and comfort across both short-haul and long-haul travel. With the introduction of our new A330neo on selected flights, we look forward to welcoming more Indian travellers on board to experience the warmth of Malaysian Hospitality.”
The bigger picture
Put together, the steps over the last few months show a clear plan. By adding frequency on proven Indian routes, introducing a modern aircraft, widening leisure connections, and keeping fares attractive, Malaysia Airlines is trying to secure its share of the fast-growing India travel market.
If the airline can keep its promises—daily services from Kerala, reliable connections via Kuala Lumpur, and smooth A330neo operations—it could convert today’s one-time bargain hunters into regular customers.
