A young woman who was reported missing from Jobat in Madhya Pradesh’s Alirajpur district was found at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore on Monday night. She and two men travelling with her were stopped just before they could board a flight to Mumbai, police said on Wednesday.
A family member of the woman had filed a complaint with the police. The complaint said she had been abducted by someone. She was reported missing from the limits of the Jobat police station.
The flight from Indore to Mumbai was scheduled to leave at 10.30 pm. Shortly before departure, airport authorities received information about the missing woman. She was identified as Rani (name changed). The information said she was travelling to Mumbai with two men, named Rehan and his friend.
As boarding began, employees from the terminal manager’s office and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel started checking passengers. Acting on the abduction complaint, CISF personnel stopped the three at the aerobridge, just before they could enter the aircraft.
The two men were detained by the police. The woman was later reunited safely with her parents. The police did not share many details in the report about how the woman reached the airport or what the relationship between the three was.
The family’s complaint alleged abduction, but the facts of the case are yet to be established. The police will need to find out how the woman left her home and what role the two men played. Until the investigation is complete, no one should draw conclusions about the men.
